Virtual and Online Nutrition Coaching

You do not live near Greenwood Village, or you do and your week does not have a spare drive in it. Either way the question is the same one, and most practices answer it badly: is the online version the real thing, or the version you settle for.

It is the real thing. The assessment, the plan, and the follow-up work the same way on video as they do in the office, because the work is a conversation and a written plan rather than anything that requires being in a room. Jaci Salley, CNTP, works with clients across all 50 states this way, and most clients outside the Denver area work entirely online.

What follows is what that actually looks like, start to finish, so you know what you are signing up for.

What a Virtual Session Involves

Sessions run over video. You get a link, you join from a laptop or a phone, and you talk.

Before the first session

Intake forms are completed online before you meet, which covers health history, what you are currently eating, how you are sleeping, what you take regularly, and what you are hoping changes. Filling it in ahead of time means the session itself is spent on the conversation rather than on paperwork.

If you have had recent bloodwork, you upload it. Jaci reads it before the call.

The first session

Sixty minutes. It covers how you eat and when, how you feel after meals, your sleep, your stress, your energy through the day, and your health history in context. The same ground an in-office intake covers, because it is the same intake.

The one thing video removes is the in-office body composition reading, which is equipment-based and local only. For most coaching work that is not a limiting factor, and where it matters Jaci will say so on the free call rather than after you have paid.

Your plan

Delivered in writing through the client portal after the session. Foods to prioritize and reduce, meal timing, guidance for travel and dining out, and supplement guidance only where the assessment shows a gap. Food comes first.

Follow-up

Regular check-ins on video to adjust as your body responds. Between sessions you have portal access for messaging, which is the part remote clients tend to use more than local ones, and which works in your favor.

How Testing Works When You Are Not Local

Testing is optional and never required to start. Where it makes sense, distance is handled in one of two ways depending on what is being looked at.

Mail-in kit

Bioenergetic scanning uses a hair or saliva sample. A mail-in kit is sent to you, you collect the sample at home and send it back, and results come to you online.

Local draw site

Lab testing is arranged through a draw site near you, so you go to a local facility rather than traveling here.

Either way, results are reviewed with you directly on a video call rather than emailed over with a note attached. The report is the start of the conversation, not a replacement for it.

Testing is priced separately from coaching, and the free call is where you work out whether it is a sensible starting point for you at all. Sometimes it is not.

How It Works

01

Book the free thirty-minute call. You describe what is going on, Jaci describes how she would approach it, and you both decide whether this is the right starting point. Some of these calls end with no purchase, which is the correct outcome when it is the correct outcome.

02

Complete your intake online. Forms, recent bloodwork if you have it, and anything you take regularly.

03

Your first session. Sixty minutes on video.

04

Your written plan, delivered through the portal.

05

Follow-up sessions and portal messaging as your body responds and the plan needs adjusting.

What You Actually Receive

A full assessment of how you currently eat, sleep, and function

A written plan you keep, with food guidance and meal timing

Supplement guidance tied to gaps the assessment surfaced, rather than a standing list

Strategies for travel, dining out, and weeks that go sideways

Follow-up sessions on video

Portal access for messaging between sessions

No outcomes are promised. What is promised is a plan built on your situation and a practitioner who adjusts it with you.

What Virtual Coaching Costs

Free

Initial 30-minute call

$195

First session

$145

Each follow-up session

The initial thirty-minute call is free. The first session is $195 and follow-up sessions are $145. Single sessions or packages are both options, and testing is priced separately.

Pricing is the same whether you meet in the office or on video. Services are not billed through insurance, though a superbill can be provided for you to submit.

Who Virtual Coaching Suits

Virtual tends to be the better fit when:

You live outside the Denver metro, which is most people who find this page

You travel for work and a fixed in-office slot would get cancelled twice a month

Your schedule is the actual problem, and a thirty-minute drive each way is the difference between keeping appointments and quietly dropping them

You are an adult athlete fitting coaching around a training schedule, where the sessions need to move around your week rather than the other way around

When in office is the better call

If you are local and you want the in-office body composition reading as part of your baseline, start in person. If you would rather do the first session face to face and move to video afterward, that is what most local clients do, and it is a reasonable instinct.

And if what you are dealing with is primarily a medical question rather than a nutrition one, your physician is the right first call regardless of format. Nutritional therapy works alongside medical care rather than in place of it.

The Part Most Practices Leave Out

Remote work is usually sold on convenience, which undersells it. The thing that actually makes online coaching work is continuity.

A plan built in one appointment and left alone for three months is a document. A plan that gets adjusted when week four goes badly is a process, and the second one is what produces change. Remote clients message between sessions more than local clients do, partly because there is no drive attached to asking a question. That turns out to matter more than being in the same room.

Virtual Nutrition Coaching Questions

Is online nutrition coaching as effective as meeting in person?

The assessment, the plan, and the follow-up are the same either way, because the work is a conversation and a written plan. The one thing that is local only is in-office body composition reading. Most clients outside the Denver area work entirely online.

Can I work with a nutrition coach online from another state?

Yes. Virtual coaching and remote program delivery are available in all 50 states. In-person sessions and local support are Denver area only.

How does virtual nutrition coaching work?

Sessions run over video, so you need a device with a camera and a reasonably stable connection. Intake forms are completed online before you meet, the first session runs sixty minutes, and your written plan and messaging between sessions run through the client portal.

Can I do nutrition testing at home?

Bioenergetic scanning uses a mail-in kit for hair or saliva collection at home. Lab testing is arranged through a draw site near you. Results are reviewed with you on a video call either way.

Do I need lab testing to start nutrition coaching?

No. Testing is optional and priced separately. Plenty of clients start with coaching alone and never add it.

How much does online nutrition coaching cost?

The first session is $195 and follow-up sessions are $145, the same as in the office. The initial 30-minute call is free.

No fixed plans that fall apart the first week something goes wrong. No guessing. Just an assessment of how you actually eat and a plan adjusted as you go.

The first step is a free thirty-minute call. You describe what is going on, Jaci tells you how she would approach it, and you decide from there. If a different starting point makes more sense, she will say so on the call.
